From the beginning, Gaudí exhibited an awesome appreciation for nature and especially the ecosystem of his indigenous region of Catalonia. He finally became an exceedingly enthusiastic outdoorsman, signing up for the club known as the Centre Excursionista de Catalunya in 1879 (which took lots of outings to the countryside from the region and south
